I started off the year worried about how I was going to do on my photography work in AP Art. I had taken several photography and graphic design classes all through high school, but I didn’t have a true style yet. As the year progressed, I was challenged and pushed myself to try different techniques. Because of this I could see my work changing. My photos became stronger and it became easier to come up with creative ideas. My macro pictures are what really kicked off the year for me, but towards the end of the year I wanted to go in a different direction. I not only wanted crisp images but also I wanted to capture a story within them. Old photographs are meaningful and interesting to a lot of people. I looked through tons of old albums with pictures and postcards, looking for those pictures that could connect with my viewers. Arranging photo-shoots based around each old photo was how I came up with these strong photographs. I decided this was going to be my AP Art concentration and had to come up with a lot more different looks in order to make them all look interesting. It was really hard work, believe it or not. I spent hours taking pictures and then going back to edit them through Photoshop. It was all well worth it.
For my last big push at the end of the year I decided to create surreal portrait images using Photoshopped photography. I took several portrait pictures with slightly different positioning. I layered them through Photoshop, making the hands look like they are covering the face, but you can still see his deep emotion on his face. I’m very proud of how well I did this year, and will continue photography for many more years to come. I’m very passionate about photography. I hope to continue my hobby and become a professional photographer.
